      The communication from the European Parliament is quite specific in saying that the verdict is effective from July 2, the date of the elections. The usual pro-Spain 'rule-of-law' advocates have been deafeningly silent on this matter.

        Up until now, the arguments against most Catalan pro-independence efforts have been that they are in contravention of Spanish law. Now, with Spain officially in contravention of European law, these arguments are not being made.

          This shows that the 'all must obey the law' argument only applies to one side, that Spain is just weaponising the legal code to bolster the state's aims. It's got nothing to do with the legitimacy of the law. Hypocritical fascists hiding behind a facade of democracy for 40 years.
