      Most of the signatories would have joined the army around 1964 and presumably hanker after the decade after when the head of state was one of their own.

        Spain's military has the constitutional mission to defend the sacred territorial integrity of the country. Many of them see this as ranking them 'above' the government should the need arise. This isn't the first such letter, and is much more than the grumbling of old men.
