See for yourself how the policeman in question was, in the view of the judge, acting "proportionally and legally" in the "execution of his duty." The injured man now faces prosecution and a possible fine of €6000. catmemoria.cat/en/location/lleida-ies-caparrella/

This case neatly shows the way in which the law is used as an instrument of oppression. The regime uses the full weight of the legal system to do what it wants, but if anyone tried to use legal actions to fight back, the system closes ranks against the citizen.

Referendum is illegal; state suppression of it is legal; peaceful protests against police attacks are illegal. In this partisan application of the law, it becomes impossible to seek redress in court, and doing so results in vindictive counter attacks from the political judges.

This 'lawfare' (warfare through legal channels) aims to crush opposition, obviously, but also to discourage citizens from seeing the legal system as a protection against oppression. The message in the Lleida case is 'don't dare to come here or we'll double-down on you.'
