      1. Spanish prosecutor has published the sentences they are demanding for the political prisoners: @junqueras 25 years; @ForcadellCarme, @jcuixart, @jordialapreso 17 years; and 18 other accused for variously 16, 11, and 7 years. At every opportunity the state takes the hard line.

Parliamentarians accused of facilitating the approval of openly unconstitutional resolutions, laws, and judicial rules. Ministers accused of convoking and celebrating an illegal self-determination referendum that legitimises internationally its territorial segregration project.

The main charge is rebellion, legally defined as a violent uprising. To 'prove' violence happened the prosecutor cites: - the intimidatory force of the large mobilisation of the citizens. - the Catalan police with its 17,000 "armed agents under the orders of the secessionists."

They can't convict for rebellion without violence but this seems really thin as an argument. I'm not a legal scholar, but is it 'violent' that the people supported the referendum? Is it 'violent' for Catalonia to have a police force that takes orders from the justice minister?
