He's retired now but used to be in the RUC, the police force of Northern Ireland, during the Troubles. He told me how during elections the police would have to deliver and retrieve the ballot boxes, putting their own lives in danger to do so.Permalink On twitter.com

It reminded me of the ballot box smuggling on #1Oct, just more dangerous. Anyone who puts their own life on the line to facilitate the people voting is a true democrat. That's why he marched today, alongside thousands of other defenders of the right to self-determination.Permalink On twitter.com
