Spanish judge held court at 1 AM to prevent the Catalan government from imposing lockdown in Lleida city, arguing that this was a competency of the Spanish government. For shame. @catalannews/1282614803010379777

In the interests of public health the lockdown will go ahead, but first the Catalan government has to put together some legal framework to bypass the court order. A waste of time when people's lives are at stake.

Now the court advises that the decree, rushed through by the Catalan government decree to allow the confinement, has no legal validity. @MonDiari/1282664272527589377

This court is literally risking people's lives in order to assert Spain's authority over the Catalan government, even though everyone else acknowledges that confinement is the correct epidemiological course of action. None of this would be happening in an independent Catalonia.
